As far as ‘traditional’ elopements go, this stunning Winter Elopement is the stereotypically spontaneous romance of making the snap decision to jet off into the sunset and marry the one you love as soon as possible! James and Hannele made their decision to Elope exactly one month prior to their special day, which is the quickest amount of time available to get all the legal stuff sorted. It was a short but sweet month of joyful planning, all the while keeping it hush hush from family and friends, and when they arrived in the sunny Whitsundays from a winter down in Victoria, all of those who met them were blown away by their smiles, happiness and love for one another! This picture perfect couple were treated to the most picture perfect day, celebrated with simply each other and seriously, what a day it was!

How did you both meet?

We both met while working in London at the same company. Hannele had only been in the country 1 week and we went on our first date within a few days.

Tell us about the proposal

James arranged a trip to Fiji and proposed at the end of the trip after a very romantic day.

Where did you splurge and where did you save for your wedding?

Our priority was a beautiful location for the ceremony that would stand out in our memories. Whitehaven Beach seemed like the perfect place to do this and was the most important aspect for us. We saved on guests as we wanted to elope and make the special day about us without any distractions or worrying about other people.

Why did you choose Whitehaven Beach?

Whitehaven is a beach unmatched in beauty and untouched with manmade buildings. A big part of our relationship revolves around being outdoors and exploring nature so this seemed like the perfect location.

What was the funniest moment of the day?

The photo session was a lot of fun and we believe reflects in the shots that we got. Norina from Iconic Bride Photography asked us to just be ourselves which resulted in a lot of laughs on the day and some nice natural shots.

What did you do for your honeymoon?

To be decided 🙂

What was the most special memory from the day?

The whole day was perfect and we really couldn’t have asked for better weather or a more seamless ceremony. Everything was special from the flight there, the vows, the photo session but above all spending a beautiful day with each other.

Special Thanks…

A special thanks to Norina (wedding photographer) for reflecting our personalities in some very natural shots, Jess (wedding planner) for arranging everything seamlessly and Annie (wedding celebrant) for being the best celebrant anyone could ask for.

Advice for other brides-to-be:

Remember the day is about you guys, so relax and enjoy the day and it will shine through in your memories.
